Vaccines reduce coronavirus transmission by 40%, says WHO

The World Health Organization has stated that COVID-19 vaccines reduce the transmission of the Delta variant of coronavirus by nearly 40%. It cautioned that people were falling into a false sense of security about the COVID-19 vaccines. 

The WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that fully-vaccinated individuals must continue to follow measures to avoid contracting the infection and spreading it. He added that several vaccinated people have a wrong perception that after taking the vaccine, they no longer need to take any other precautions.

Data suggest that prior to the emergence of the Delta variant, vaccines reduced transmission by about 60%; however, with Delta variant, it has come down to about 40%... (HT – AFP, November 25, 2021)
